by the numbers….march 6, twenty 11.

When I lived in Lubbock, 2 or 3 times a month I would get together with a group of friends for random photo-related adventures. Sometimes these adventures involved simply driving around Lubbock looking for “interesting” things to photograph, other times they took us to wondrous places like Acuff, TX, and beyond. Good times; even if I didn’t get any decent images, those times spent with close friends was unforgettable.

However, people graduated (including myself), jobs ended, etc., so some of us left Lubbock to pursue “bigger and better things.”

After a couple of failed attempts to congregate and adventure once more, it was decided to have a “long-distance-like” photo adventure.  Basically, we threw up a website and named a bunch of themes – some literal, some open to interpretation. These themes are then “randomly selected” and we have two weeks to come up with a shot that describes our interpretations.

The first theme is “by the numbers.” I had a couple of ideas, but wasn’t sold on any of them.

I just knew it would involve dinosaurs.

After a couple of failed attempts, I finally came up with the perfect idea….

Color “by (the) number” Dino Party!!!!

(BOOM!)

Shot with Canon 5DMK2 and 70-200 2.8L IS lens W/ 12mm extension tube.

ISO 400, 95mm, f5.6 @ 1/60 sec. Edited with Lightroom 2.7.

If you’d like to read a more about our “long-distance” adventure, as well as see work from the others involved, here is the website – photoadv. If you are one of those Lubbock photographers we left out, sorry – come play; if you’d like to join in our “online-dating” adventures, just leave a comment on the photoadv blog and we’ll add you to the facebook group.
